Jiun-Yu Wu(吳俊育)(C.V) is currently Associate Professor at National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. He is a quantitative methodologist specializing in Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (MSEM) with cross-sectional and longitudinal data. His research interests focus on students’ online reading behavior and performance as well as factors that motivate or hinder students’ selective attention during online learning.

He received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Communications Engineering at National Chiao Tung University in 2001 and 2003, respectively. He obtained his doctorate from the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University, College Station in 2010, and joined the faculty of the Institute of Education at National Chiao Tung University upon his graduation.

His research focuses on understanding students’ attention state and willful control of their attention within their personal learning environment (PLE) and the correlates of the attention outcome. He delves into the mechanism between learners’ reading behavior and performance as well as factors that motivate or hinder students’ selective attention within the PLE. Specifically, he uses the cutting-edge learning analytics techniques, such as big data and behavioral analysis, visualization and interactive graphing, and cognitive tests, to assess students’ attention in PLE and model students’ psychological and behavioral processes and outcomes in the social media. He teaches introductory and advanced applied statistics at the undergraduate and graduate level, including applied multivariate analysis, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling and multilevel modeling in both English and Mandarin.

His scholarly works have been published in high-impact flagship journals, such as Journal of Educational Psychology, Structural Equation Modeling, Computers & Education, Child Development, Journal of Computer-Assisted Learning, Interactive Learning Environment, Learning and Individual Differences, Journal of Experimental Education, Journal of School Psychology, School Psychology Quarterly…etc.
